Special report: communication disruption in a region
Event-driven report on a time-limited disruption of communication paths in a partial region, including the measures taken.
Occasion
On 29 September, limited reachability of several offices in a partial region was reported. The situation centre temporarily raised the situation to "elevated".
Course of events
After the first reports arrived, the affected communication paths were checked and fallback channels activated. Within 40 minutes reachability of all participating offices had been restored, first via the fallback channels and then again via the regular paths.
Measures
- Activation of the designated fallback channels
- Additional coordination round with the affected offices
- Recording of all reports and responses
- Downgrading of the situation after stability was confirmed
Evaluation
The procedures proved effective. As an improvement, response deadlines of participating offices will be made visible in the distribution list in future.
